George Zhang was born in Jinan, China. George and his parents immigrated to the US to start a new life when he was fourteen years old. After college, George was introduced to fine wine at his first job in the banking industry. George was immediately fascinated by the variety and the complexity of wines from different parts of the world. As a result, George dedicated much of his free time to learning everything he could about wine.

In the Summer of 2019, George decided to pursue his dream by launching ShunYi Cellars. Each wine made by ShunYi Cellars will have a unique name that tells a story. George believes that wine can bring people together and be a bridge between different experiences, cultures, and values.

Bryon Kosuge is a native Californian, born and raised in Davis, California. Byron is a purist with over 30 years of winemaking experience. He prefers unadorned wines, or at least those that carry their adornment gracefully. Byron wants to be as natural as he can but doesn’t consider him a “natural” winemaker in the current sense of the term. Like most new world winemakers, Byron is inspired by old world wines, but he firmly believes that in the new world, we should be creating our own traditions and not merely copying what came before.
